The Evaluate step includes strategies and resources to:

• Clearly explain the goals of the diagnostic process to individuals with cognitive impairment and their families.
• Implement the key steps of the diagnostic process in clinical practice and/or be comfortable referring to an appropriate specialist for evaluation.
• Identify diagnostic criteria for various causes of dementia.
• Appropriately document a diagnosis of dementia.
• Make disclosure of a diagnosis in a sensitive, person-centered way.
